Dear Upchurch

We have had an increase in reports of dirt bikes being ridden along public roads, pavements and through woodlands and open spaces accessible to the public.

Whilst it is difficult to catch anyone riding these bikes committing road traffic offences, with the help of the public this type of activity can be reduced. If you know anyone who owns a motocross bike (dirt bike) or a quad bike, please feel free to let me know their details and I will visit addresses and give early advice on their usage.

The only place you are legally allowed to ride a dirt bike or pit bike is on private property with the landowners' permission.

If you see anyone riding these bikes on anything other than private land, please obtain as much detail as possible and report this to the police and quote PSP/954/24. If safe to do so, any footage captured on a mobile phone is useful in identifying offences and offenders.

This is a Swale wide issue and there is a problem solving plan in place to robustly deal with this issue.

Kind regards,

Jez
